Optiplex GX270 SFF

I need a graphics card that will fit in this thing. I tried the Asus EN210 SILENT/DI/1GD3/V2(LP)

but it's too big, and it will not fit in the actual slot (where the electrical contacts are)

I have a low profile sound card that fits perfectly

I'm betting your card was PCI. This is listed as AGP video card compatible.

Newegg search for AGP video cards.

That video card that you tried is a PCI- Express card. Your only option is an AGP 4/8x card - Very limited selection. You could also get a plain jane PCI card.

That 4350's about as good as you're gonna get.

That system is nearly 10 years old! Not worth putting in ANY money into that thing.

Save up for a new system!

A video card is $30. A decent newer computer is like $300. I don't have as much money as you.

Yeah but a new video card will only improve gaming performance... ever so slightly on that system. You probably have at most 2GB RAM which is livable today, but you also probably have an ancient single core Pentium 4 processor which is a bottleneck for pretty much anything nowadays.

Real legacy stuff there. Not going to have any 'good' options, only ones that 'work'. Probably best off searching ebay for something, but I wouldn't spend more than $20.

That's also OK because I'm still using XP, where 2GB is sufficient. The stock graphics chip only has 96 MB of video RAM, and right now, the plugin-container for Firefox can use more than that just streaming FLD!

Not like 7-8 that need a minimum of 16GB just to run—and as such, they should really be 64-bit only (32-bit OS's are limited to 4GB ram, which isn't enough for anything post-XP)

The Dell GX270 can only take a 8xAGP card, quite common on Dells from that era. The card you tried is a PCI Express Card.

Here's a PCI card (not PCIe) that isn't archaic:

nVidia/PNY makes a few low profile cards that should work.

4GB RAM is FINE for 7... hell, even 2GB RAM is fine. Stop making crap up.

Ha! Agreed we just had an entire dumpster filled with them after they became somewhat obsolete to the company i work for.. Saved 2 but they don't have any special graphics cards in them run ok for a internet surfer once stripped down. Cant even take more than 4 gb's of memory so pretty limited.
